GREAT FALLS — The City of Great Falls Animal Shelter is participating this weekend in a national campaign called “Clear The Shelters.” The event is designed to promote adoptions and “clear the shelters” by finding forever homes for pets. A press release from the City says that while the national event is slated for one day (August 17), the Great Falls Animal Shelter will be hosting a two-day event on Friday, August 16, and Saturday, August 17, from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on each day. The shelter will be closed on Thursday, August 15, to prepare for the two-day event. During the event, the Shelter is offering an adoption promotion where all cats and dogs can be adopted for only $10 plus a donation of your choice. The low adoption fee includes spay/neuter, vaccines, microchip, and a nametag for all pets four months old and older. Freshman Lynda Bertrand and her dog Obie begin their college adventure together as part of the pet friendly community at Southeast. Students can ditch the sad goodbyes to their pets as Southeast Missouri State University welcomes family pets and their student owners back to campus for the second year. A mix of dogs, cats and small caged animals will be joining campus life again this fall semester along with their incoming student owners. “We are very excited to welcome students and their pets to the community this fall,” said Dr. Kendra Skinner, director of Residence Life . “Many of us at Residence Life and across the University are pet owners ourselves and we know what it means to be able to have your furry, fuzzy or scaly friend living with you.
